About

Davi M. D’Agostino

She began drawing and painting at age 9 and continued through her graduate studies. After following a completely different career path supporting the U.S. Congress, she retired and began taking and teaching painting classes in oils and acrylics and studying classic art in museums. She has traveled extensively and often paints places from her European travels that inspire her–she paints from her photos in oils, mostly on linen canvas. She paints windows, doors, flower shop and other scenes of Europe, as well as still life and landscapes—mostly representational and sometimes nearly photorealistic—including florals from her own prolific gardens. Her works are meant to take the viewer by the hand with her on travels, exploring nooks and crannies of European villages and cities with charm and atmospheric effects. Her paintings evoke mystery, enchantment, tranquility with a simple and direct style. She is unwaveringly a colorist, using color to express the mood and entice the viewer. Still, her style is evolving as she experiments with new palettes and techniques.

Her works have been juried into many shows and exhibitions in Northern Virginia and have won many awards in juried online competitions with submissions from around the globe. She has also held solo art exhibits in wine shops and restaurants in Northern Virginia. She has sold many paintings and done several paintings on commission, with works hanging in private collections from California, to Iowa and Utah, to Delaware to Paris, and other cities in France.

She has also developed, designed, and taught many painting classes. She was Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Line’s “Artist on Board,” teaching on 4 European sailings, taught at Northern Virginia Community College’s Lifetime Learning Institute, and currently holds classes in her home studio. She sponsors and hosts annual arts and jewelry shows with several other artists in her home studio and gallery spaces, and served on the Boards of Directors and Advisors of the Vienna Arts Society (member since 2016).
