“I have collected Davi’s art since she returned to painting after her retirement from her federal career. My walls are graced with 13 of her pieces, reflecting the evolution of her work over the past 10 years. Many of the subjects are from trips we have taken together so beautiful memories flood in when I gaze at some of the pieces. One of the paintings was inspired by a flower shop in Paris and reflects a phase where she worked with dark and light contrasts, reminiscent of Rembrandt. Another favorite showcases a looser style using wet on wet technique. Caffe Florian, Venice–from one of my photos taken on a boozy, rainy afternoon when we enjoyed calming jazz notes in the mist in front of St. Mark’s Cathedral–is another favorite, along with her painting of a staircase at a winery (Chateau d’Abzaq) located on a World War II border between France and Germany. Finally, she perfectly captured my cat Dally’s look of disdain that she harbors for most people. I am also happy to own some of Davi’s miniature oils that are delicately detailed little gems,” Chris Bonham
